Friday January 18th, 2013

Today in class we focused on making the Phone Cover. We used Photoshop to do this. We downloaded a template from a website and started customizing it. I went on Google and copied various textures and pictures of our choices onto Photoshop. We experimented with the hue, saturation, brightness and contrast to get the appropriate look. We added masks and layers to finish it and overlay the textures on the actual template.

Wednesday January 16th 2013

On Wednesday, we were assigned to do design an yearbook cover. We were given a template to get a rough layout of what we are suppose to have on there. I based my yearbook cover on the school colors; green and purple. I went on the Richland website to get some logos and embedded them onto Photoshop. I added text on it using the text box tool.
I used the clone stamp tool to crop thematic-based images in Photoshop. I added the Richland thunderduck. I also added an appropriate quote in there for the back cover. Also on the back cover, I added a wallpaper of the school emblem and mascot; I used it as my background. I had to mess around with the font a lot to get the appropriate one to match the font that was in the wallpaper. I have now learned to how to create an yearbook cover using Photoshop.

Monday January 14th, 2013

During class on Monday, we were assigned to pick a movie and customize it to make it unique using the pictures we took ourselves. We got into groups of three and pick Step Brothers as our movie. We each picked a different picture from the movie and tried to mimic it using our own pictures. I personally chose a picture with both brothers in it and used it for my movie poster project.
I used the clone tool to cut out object and dragged them  into the hands of the people in my photo. I experimented around with various masks and layers to get to the point where it would look as if the person in the picture was actually holding onto the cut-out object. I added bow ties to our necks to mimic the outfits the guys were wearing in the Step Brothers photo. Finally, I added a similar yet comical caption to the photo with respect to the Richland School theme.

Thursday January 10, 2013

On Thursday, we went outside and shot a couple of photos. The theme we focused on was balance. We shot symmetrical and asymmetrical photos. One person in our group did the asymmetrical text (screaming photo) that had a lot of background to write text on. I chose a caption to write on the photo and used the paint brush and pen tool to make the desired path for my caption. I then pasted the text from Microsoft Word onto Photoshop text box alongside the path I created using the pen tool.
For the symmetrical photo, we created a pathway for the text to go on. I blurred out the background using the blur and clone stamp tool. I also added text on the top of the photo using the text tool. For the radial photo, I created a pathway around the person's head and added text around it. I repeated that two more times to get the finished picture.

Wednesday January 9th, 2013

In class on Wednesday, we picked two photos and played with them in Photoshop. We made a colorpop cover for Student Life. We worked in Photoshop and experimented with various colors and themes. I used a lot of different colorful shapes and outlined them to make a background. I then cropped some photos of people into the Photoshop canvas and added designs and shapes on them. Overall, we incorporated the them of colors to make a vibrant cover page for Student Life.

Tuesday January 8th, 2013

On Tuesday, we used the digital cameras to shoot high key and low key photos. We got into groups of three to go out and take photos in the dark room as well as outside for a light picture. When we went outside in our groups of three, one person would shoot about three to five pictures of the other and we would take turns doing that.
For our the high key photos, we went outside to get brighter photos. We also went to the art gallery to shoot some photos because the lighting was magnificent in there. For the low key, we went into a dark room to take photos. In there, one person held the light bulb, one takes the photo, and the last is the one who takes the photos.
Then we went into Photoshop and edited the photos to make some final touches. I adjusted the levels to make it dark and bright according to the type of photo it was. I added extra lighting and brightness for the high key photo and contrasted the low key photo.

Monday January 7th, 2013

While working with Photoshop, I learned how to enhance people's faces. I working with various Photoshop effects to make a woman's face look nicer and more appealing. I used the sponge tool to blend her teeth to the same color and texture; I also used the saturation tool to whiten her teeth than before. I brightened her hair using the contrast tool. I removed her blemishes and dark spots using the sponge, clone stamp tool.
I also did work around her eyes to enhance them and make them look more lively. I used a tool to make her eyelashes appear longer. I used the clone stamp tool to make her eye color look the same because they were two different colors. I liquified her hair to make it look bigger. I used the brightness tool to make her skin look brighter and smoother.
I created a different layer to bring out her face in terms of the background. This helped her face appear brighter and bolder than the rest of the background. Her eyebrows needed a lot of work because they were two different shapes and sizes. To fix that, I used the clone stamp tool to fill the blank spaces in and make them look like a resembling shape to the other.
